International Women’s Day: Celebrating Female-Founded Brands
International Women’s Day celebrates women all around the world and acknowledges the continued hard work women put in for their success. In honor of International Women’s Day and female empowerment, we’re rounding up a few of our favorite female-founded brands featured on Dermstore.
Briogeo
Briogeo founder Nancy Twine created her namesake brand in 2013 with a mission to take it back to basics with natural products that perform for all hair. The brand name comes from “brio,” meaning vibrant and full of life, and “geo,” meaning of earth and nature. The two combine to encompass Briogeo’s ethos of pure ingredients that make up the energetic brand.
NuFace
Mother, Carol Cole, and her two daughters, Tera Peterson and Kim Morales, founded NuFace in 2005. Cole, a famed esthetician, received common concerns about aging skin from her clients and began treating them with microcurrent facials. This evolved into the first FDA-approved microcurrent device for at-home use.
Susanne Kaufmann
Susanne Kaufmann founded her namesake brand in 2003, and has since spent the last two decades creating a sustainable skin care line. The brand uses natural and organic plants and herbs sourced specifically for the skin. Inspired by the Austrian Alpine region where she grew up, Kaufmann’s brand mission is rooted in working in harmony with nature and its benefits for the skin
Supergoop!
Supergoop! was founded thanks to a Texas classroom, where founder Holly Thaggard got SPF pumps into schools to protect students from the harmful effects of the sun. Since its founding in 2007, Supergoop! has pioneered change on the playground with SPF pumps, and has dominated the skin care industry to make sunscreen a priority.
Sunday Riley
Sunday Riley founded her namesake brand in 2009. Riley created a space for “green technology” in the skin care industry, after identifying that it was missing from the industry prior to the brand's founding. Today, the brand is an expert in crafting effective products powered by green ingredients.
Paula’s Choice
Paula’s Choice, founded by Paula Begoun, was founded in 1995. The brand has been widely popularized in recent years through fans on social media raving about their products.
