Q Hi.. I am a 23 year old female who developed pretty severe acne within the last 3 months. Prior to that, I got the occasional pimple, but nothing in comparison to this. I have been on a treatment of Retin-A Micro .1% every night in addition to antibiotics... but I would like to know if it is safe to begin a blue/red light therapy treatment in addition to these treatments. I have found several light therapy machine's available for purchase online that have received promising reviews. I'm just afraid that it won't be compatible with the Retin-A Micro. Thank you for your help!
A

It is fine to do a series of blue or red light therapy sessions in conjunction with Retin A Micro. Just keep in mind that you'll likely have some initial peeling, sensitivity and redness will occur. Most importantly, remember that sunscreen although always essential to wear during the day is more important to wear while doing facial treatments such as these. Please contact me with any further questions. Best skin care wishes.
