- Q Hello. I have recently brought a moisturizer which contains low concentration of hyaluronic acid. As of now, i have been also using Paula's choice's bha 2% gel as an acne prevention treatment. I am wondering if there are any skin side effects for using both hyaluronic acid and salicylic acid at once? Since both are acids would they disrupt their effectiveness? Would using them at the same time irritate my skin?
- A
Hyaluronic acid is a skin hydrator, not an exfoliant like salicylic acid. You can definitely use both.
In fact, applying hyaluronic acid with your salicylic acid is a very good idea. Salicylic acid can be a little drying to the skin because it's job is to absord excess oil. So adding hyaluronic acid to your regimen will give your skin the hydration that you do need to keep your skin hydrated and balanced. They work very well together.
Thanks,
